To What Extent Does A Person's Name Shape His/Her Identity?

Maybe it is to the extent of their nationality. If someone is really into their own nationality and trace their roots of their name into their nationality, it could shape their identity. For example: my name in Amharic means "light". I have looked further into my heritage as an Ethiopian and learned things about my nationality that I never knew. When someone asks me what my nationality is I say I'm an Ethiopian, which is also apart of my identity. I hope that just made sense...
